Batavia’s Christmas in the Village this year will be the evening of Saturday, December 7, starting at 5 p.m. with events until 8 p.m. The event will be at the Batavia Armory Town Hall, 65 N. Second St.
The Batavia Beautification Committee is coordinating the celebration. Committee members are Councilwoman Kathy Turner and Councilman Jason Garrison.
Mrs. Turner said the emphasis of Christmas in the Village is children.
At 5:00 p.m. Town Crier Maybelle Murphy will open the Christmas celebration in Batavia. Santa will arrive at 5:15 p.m., and pictures will begin at 5:30 p.m.
At 6 and 7 p.m. magician John Louis will have shows at the First Presbyterian Church on North Third Street. The church will also have a craft to make.
People’s Bank, Main Street will serve refreshments.
There will be prizes for children ages 2 to 13 and other attractions. Children must be present to win the major prizes. The Village will have door prizes for the Children, with a drawing for three Grand Prizes at 7:45 p.m.
The committee has collected cash donations to buy door prizes and cover other costs and will acknowledge the donors at the event. Volunteers to help with the event can call the Batavia Village Hall at 732-2020 or Kathy Turner at 732-3178.
